David Coppinger

is a Melbourne based artist, with a deep love for this wonderful Victorian City

About the artist

While studying Architecture in the 70’s, he took to sketching scenes of interest in a small watercolour pad. This developed to the stage where he held solo Exhibitions of paintings as big as full watercolour sheet size at a Central city Gallery in Cape Town. An opportunity to host a weekly sketch series in the Cape Argus newspaper led to his work reaching a wide audience. Other publishing opportunities arose, with a yearly collection of Calendars. In 2001 David moved to Melbourne, finding the city home to a treasure trove of buildings and street scenes, waiting to be captured.
His favoured medium is the quarter sheet ink and watercolour PAINTING, reproduced at times as smaller PIGMENT INK PRINTS in limited editions.
He strives at all times to use acid free and archival materials
